Warren Averett’s Annual Day of Sharing

Written on January 21, 2016

The Tampa Office of Warren Averett, LLC kicked off the 2015 Holiday Season with our 8th Annual Day of Sharing event. In partnership with the United Way Suncoast’s HandsOn volunteer program, we divided our 50 local employees into teams and donated a day of service to five charitable organizations across the Tampa Bay community.

One employee team replaced mulch and beautified the children’s center playground for A Brighter Community. Another team played board games and exercised with the senior residents at the Jewish Towers Nutrition Center, while others served as caterers and cooks at the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay’s veteran’s cookout. Another group cleaned and prepared the grounds at Sweet Water Organic Farm for their outdoor fundraising gala. Our last team volunteered at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, socializing the animals, cleaning and organizing supplies.

At the end of this day of service, our teams joined together to recap our experiences, learn about the missions of each organization and celebrate the contributions they make to our community. As a whole that day, we donated 200 hours of volunteer time and energy during our day of sharing event. It felt great to give back to our community and was a joyful way to begin the holiday season.

If your organization offers volunteer opportunities, you are well aware that a day of hands-on volunteer work away from the office is a meaningful experience for professionals who work in private industry. While many of us are aware of your organization, witnessing your mission in action is an impactful event. As we come together to support our community, we also create a bond of fellowship with each other.

Over the last eight years we’ve observed that our annual Day of Sharing event is the first of many volunteer opportunities for our employees throughout the year. Some of our professionals have become repeat volunteers, donors and board members with the organizations they were introduced to through this event. We look forward to continuing this tradition and serving our charitable organizations in new and exciting ways all year long.
