April Harry Ranked as a Top CFO by The Birmingham Business Journal
April Harry, the firm’s Chief Operating and Chief Financial Officer, was recently named as a finalist of the Birmingham Business Journal’s 2022 CFO Awards.
The 2022 CFO Awards recognize excellence among Birmingham’s chief financial officers, who are currently playing vital roles in guiding companies through the challenges that have been created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Great Resignation and economic changes.
The honorees were chosen based on their contributions to their companies, their respective company’s track record of performance and the CFO’s role in their industry and community.
When asked about advice that she would give to other CFOs about navigating a crisis, Harry said: “The best advice that I can offer is the advice that I give to myself. It’s important for CFOs to be flexible, patient and to exude confidence and calmness—even if that isn’t exactly how I’m feeling at the moment. A little confidence goes a long way in any day-to-day interaction.”
This is the second consecutive year that she has been a finalist. Harry joined Warren Averett’s Birmingham accounting and advisory firm in 2007 after she had gained several years of finance and accounting experience in the healthcare, real estate and manufacturing industries.
Since her appointment as CFO in 2008, she has overseen the financial, operational and legal areas of the firm. Previously, she has been named as one of the BBJ’s Top 40 under 40. She enjoys serving on boards and is a speaker on a variety of topics.
In the Birmingham community, she serves as the treasurer of the Oak Mountain Youth Baseball and Softball Association and is a Circle of Red member. She lives in Birmingham with her husband and three children.
