Warren Averett’s Birmingham Office Supports Shelby Humane
Warren Averett CPAs and Advisors’ Birmingham office recently supported Shelby Humane through Warren Averett Animal Advocacy Group.
Warren Averett Animal Advocacy Group (WAAAG) is an employee-led initiative in which team members throughout the Firm strive to make a positive impact in the lives of animals and encourage other employees to get involved with fostering and volunteering with animals.
Our Birmingham accountants and advisors decided to conduct a dog training class as a way to raise funds and collect supplies to support Shelby Humane. Meagan Wilson, a Manager in the Firm’s Healthcare Division, served as the class instructor.
“I came up with the idea because dog training is a hobby area I’ve been working in ever since I began volunteering with the shelter and I met people who are passionate about helping learn how to communicate with their dogs in order to reduce the number of pets that get turned in to animal shelters,” said Wilson.
The dog training class was hosted at the Birmingham office. To join the class, participants donated goods or money to Shelby Humane. Ten of the Firm’s accountants and professionals brought their dogs to the office to enjoy the class. In the end, the Firm was able to provide the shelter with some much-needed items on their wish-list!
Shelby Humane’s mission is to care for homeless, abused, neglected and abandoned animals while educating the community to increase awareness and commitment to the responsibility of animal ownership and protection.
Thanks to all of our Birmingham CPAs, advisors and professionals who participated in the training class, donated to Shelby Humane and made a difference in the lives of these animals.
