Cristy Andrews Appointed as a Commissioner for the Alabama Securities Commission

Warren Averett - Cristy AndrewsWarren Averett’s Cristy Andrews, CPA, CGMA, of the firm’s Montgomery accounting and advisory office, has been appointed as a commissioner for the Alabama Securities Commission (ASC).

“We welcome Commissioner Andrews to the ASC and look forward to working with her in the coming years. Her knowledge and experience will be an asset to the ASC as we work to preserve legitimate capital markets in our state and protect investors from securities fraud,” said ASC Director, Joseph Borg.

The Alabama Securities Commission regulates the securities industry in Alabama and is committed to protecting investors against securities fraud. Andrews was nominated by the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants and selected for appointment by Alabama Governor Kay Ivey. Once she was confirmed by the Alabama Senate, her four-year term began immediately.

“I am excited to begin my appointment as a commissioner for the Alabama Securities Commission,” said Andrews. “I’m incredibly grateful to the Alabama Senate, Governor Ivey, the Alabama Securities Commission and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants for my nomination and appointment. This is a great opportunity to help protect and educate the investors of Alabama, the state I love.”

Andrews is a Member of Warren Averett, where she serves in the firm’s Tax Division. She has proven experience in accounting, tax and business consulting services for small businesses and clients in the real estate and construction industries. She is also a leader within the firm’s Real Estate Client Practice Group. Her primary focuses are planning and managing client engagements and researching industry-specific issues to provide clients with the best solutions for their needs. She resides in Pike Road, Alabama with her husband and two children.

Andrews is highly involved in her community, where she serves in organizations like the Montgomery Sunrise Rotary Club and on the Auburn University at Montgomery’s Accounting Advisory Board. She has held executive level positions for the Prattville Chamber of Commerce, the Prattville-Millbrook Sunrise Rotary Club and Habitat for Humanity of Autauga and Chilton Counties.
