Jeri Groce Contributes to CentrAL INC!

Jeri Groce, CPA, a Member in the Audit Division of the firm’s Montgomery accounting and advisory office, contributed an article to a recent issue of CentrAL INC!

In her article, You’ve Secured Grant Funding! Now What?, Groce explores the three common pitfalls that organizations face after securing grants and how they can avoid them.

There are several ways that nonprofits can properly manage their grants and maintain financial security while also advancing their missions. Options include incorporating the grant budget into the organization-wide budget, keeping proper records, and tracking and reviewing budget-to-actual reports by grant and across the organization each month.

Groce says that managing grant funds properly is important because otherwise, an organization risks losing the awarded funding, endangering future grant opportunities and damaging its reputation with stakeholders.

Jeri Groce joined the firm in 2004 and is a member of the firm’s Public Sector Industry Group. Jeri has more than 18 years of experience in public accounting and specializes in auditing, attestation and consulting services for nonprofit, higher education and governmental entities. She also has extensive experience working with clients subject to the Uniform Guidance requirements.
