Warren Averett, LLC is pleased to announce that Kevin Bowyer, the Firm’s Destin Office Managing Member, Paul Perry, the practice leader of the Security, Risk and Controls Group and Scott Pruitt, Birmingham’s IT Security Manager, recently earned the Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE) certification.
The CDPSE certification is the first experience-based, technical certification of its kind. CDPSE assesses a technology professional’s ability to implement privacy by design to enable organizations to enhance privacy technology platforms and products that provide benefits to consumers, build trust and advance data privacy.
“With this certification, we at Warren Averett have the validated experience to ensure that privacy solutions for our clients match their risk appetite and help them mitigate risks of noncompliance,” says Bowyer. “In today’s environment, privacy of data is of the utmost importance to every individual and company.”
Kevin Bowyer, in addition to serving as the Destin Office’s Managing Member, is a Member in the Firm’s Audit Division. Bowyer’s professional specialties include planning, supervising and conducting audits of companies in a variety of industries, as well as providing consulting services and performing audits in the areas of IT Risk Management, System and Organization Control engagements and internal control evaluations.
“As the accounting world and business in general become more data dependent, now more than ever is a good time to help our clients understand the importance of using, and securing, that data,” says Perry. “All companies, whether they want to believe it or not, become data and technology companies, and understanding why and how to secure that data and technology is crucial to continue as a viable business.”
Paul Perry joined the Firm in 2004 and is a Member and the practice leader of the Security, Risk and Controls Group and the leader of the Firm’s Data Analysis Group. He is also a published author, columnist, podcast host and regular speaker on topics such as cybersecurity, data analysis, internal controls and information technology.
Scott Pruitt joined Warren Averett in 2006 as the Manager of Technology Services in the Firm’s internal Information Technology group managing the User Services team. Scott is now leveraging his more than 25 years of ITSM expertise to assist clients with their own Information Systems as a member of the Firm’s Security, Risk and Controls Division of Corporate Advisory Services.
As data privacy becomes increasingly important to businesses and organizations, certifications such as CDPSE become increasingly critical for advisory professionals. Warren Averett extends congratulations to both Bowyer, Perry and Pruitt for obtaining the CDPSE certification and providing quality services to the Firm’s clients.
