Kim leads clients’ strategic planning to higher levels of thinking and effectiveness in Atlanta, Georgia.Warren Averett CPAs and Advisors is pleased to announce that Kim Hartsock, CPA, and Office Managing Member of the Atlanta office was recently featured on Gwinnett Business Radio’s “Celebrating Powerhouse Women” podcast. “Celebrating Powerhouse Women” salutes and recognizes women who are making an impact, whether it’s in business, philanthropy, public service or elsewhere. Kim Hartsock joined the host, Amanda Peach, and had the opportunity to discuss her role at Warren Averett, the Wrap podcast, her philanthropy in Gwinnett County and more.

Hartsock discussed many topics over the course of the forty-minute podcast, including how the Warren Averett experience differs from one that other CPA firms can provide. “We really do stress the advisory role. We’re trusted advisors, not trusted historians,” said Hartsock when asked how the Firm sets itself apart from competitors in the field.

She also discussed how she enjoys having a hand in recruiting for the Firm and what she looks for in the ideal candidate. “I’m always attracted to a student who has overcome some obstacles because that’s life. Life doesn’t always go exactly as planned. If someone’s already experienced something in their life to overcome, they understand that they have to roll with the punches,” said Hartsock. She stressed how everyone has a different trajectory and faces hardships in life, mentioning that she looks towards candidates who worked through college or had an untraditional life path, mirroring her own path to the Firm and the field of public accounting.

When it came to the Firm, Hartsock shared how it was important to have a work-life integration instead of a work-life balance, something that she firmly believes in when it comes to planning out her days. Additionally, Hartsock discussed her community involvement and how she enjoys supporting local businesses – helping bring more business to Gwinnett County and the local Atlanta community. Hartsock has been in Gwinnett County for eighteen years and after listening to the advice of someone, she made the opportunity to get involved in the community.

Hartsock serves on the board of the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia, the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce Executive Board and the Gwinnett Planning Commission. When it comes to the Gwinnett Planning Commission, Hartsock mentioned that it was super important to make sure that the community development is intentional. “My role is to make sure that our community gets the best development. We have to make sure that we grow responsibility and have smart development. I take it very seriously and I invest a lot of time in it,” said Hartsock.

Lastly, Hartsock talked about The Wrap and some of the podcasts that she loves to listen to.
