Paul Perry Speaks at the National Institute of Pension Administrators’ 2022 Business Management Conference
Warren Averett’s Paul Perry, FHFMA, CISM, CITP, CPA, CDPSE, the Practice Leader of the Security, Risk and Controls Group and a Member of the Firm’s Birmingham accounting office, spoke at the National Institute of Pension Administrators’ (NIPA) 2022 Business Management Conference (BMC). The BMC is a conference that is focused solely on business owners and their third-party administration firms.
From January 15 to January 17, attendees gathered to listen to presentations that would help them improve their communication skills and learned the importance of a culture that focused on cyber awareness, how the pandemic has affected the sales cycle, leadership’s role in talent development and how they could re-align their company culture for hybrid working.
Paul Perry’s session, Building a Culture of Cyber Awareness, explored why cybersecurity is a hot topic for businesses. It also touched on the latest cybersecurity news events, broke down what happened and how the impacts could have been lessened. Lastly, Perry covered the importance of self-education and how organizations can employ certain controls to combat cyber risks and threats that face them today.
At the end, Perry had a Q&A session in which he took questions and suggested strategies related to best practices for cybersecurity.
“It was both a pleasure and an honor to speak at the BMC conference this year,” said Perry. “My years in the industry have uniquely prepared me to share what I know about cybersecurity so that business and industry leaders have the protections in place to help their businesses grow and thrive while staying safe.”
Perry has been with the Firm since 2004 and serves clients throughout the Firm’s geographical footprint. He is based in the Birmingham office, where he focuses on cybersecurity, information technology-related projects, risk assessments, internal controls and more.
In connection with his work at the Firm, Perry also enjoys public speaking and providing thought leadership on the field of cybersecurity and how clients can best prepare themselves in the rapidly evolving world of risk.
