Jeri Groce and Carol Phillips Speak at AACUBO’s 2024 Conference
Jeri Groce, CPA, and Carol Phillips, CPA, CFE, recently spoke to attendees of the Alabama Association of College and University Business Officers’ (AACUBO) 2024 Conference.
AACUBO fosters, develops and promotes improved principles and efficient practices of higher education business and financial management for public colleges and universities in the state of Alabama.
The organization works with state officials to develop more meaningful reporting requirements, connects industry professionals to help them develop closer working and personal relationships, and promotes professional standards and strong ethical conduct among its members.
In June, conference attendees gathered to network and learn about a variety of topics, including state legislative updates, artificial intelligence, fraud and ethics.
Groce and Phillips shared their expertise on Uniform Guidance and Single Audits. Together, they discussed common compliance deficiencies in Uniform Guidance audits, recent 2 CFR 200 revisions and best practices for preparing for Single Audits.
Montgomery’s Jeri Groce is a Member in the firm’s Audit Division and is a part of the firm’s Public Sector Industry Group. She has more than 18 years of public accounting experience and provides auditing, attestation and consulting services. Groce specializes in planning and conducting audits for nonprofit, higher education and governmental entities. She also has extensive experience in single audits.
Birmingham’s Carol Phillips joined Warren Averett in 2004 after serving with the Birmingham office of an international accounting firm for 17 years. Carol has extensive experience in coordinating, directing and supervising large government and not-for-profit audit engagements and in performing Single Audits. She oversees the majority of all governmental and higher education audit engagements for the firm and serves as the leader of Warren Averett’s Public Sector Industry Group.
