Ryan Grauel Featured in INSIDE Public Accounting
Ryan Grauel, CPA

IPA’s article, Pipeline Perspective: Insights on the Profession from the Young Leaders Shaping its Future, assembled a roundtable of five recently-named partners to discuss their insights on the past, present and future of the accounting profession.
Throughout the piece, the professionals covered various topics, including how their interest in accounting started, their view of the profession and how it met or defied their expectations, what they think attracts people into the profession (and what makes them stay), how their firm is appealing to young professionals, and more.
Within, Grauel explains that he believes many people consider the accounting profession to be antiquated, but that his experience has been far from it. He discusses his transition from thinking public accounting would be a blip on his professional radar to becoming a Member of the firm because of his love of solving problems for his clients. And he remarks that he believes that many other young professionals stay in public accounting because of that same passion.
Grauel joined Warren Averett in 2012 and is a Member in the firm’s Audit Division. He has extensive experience serving clients across multiple industries, including manufacturing, private equity, technology and nonprofit organizations. He is also a member of the firm’s Audit Best Practice Leadership Group, which involves ensuring that the firm’s Audit Division is improving and maintaining compliance with all technical, technological and procedural matters.
In addition to his work at the firm, Grauel is highly involved in his community. He serves on the Board of Directors for CASA of Jefferson County and is on the Birmingham Chapter Advisory Board for the Alabama Society of CPAs. Grauel was named as a Rising Star in Accounting by the Birmingham Business Journal and holds professional affiliations with the Birmingham Venture Club, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and more.
