Steve Barranco Serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Montgomery Area Food Bank
Steve Barranco, CPA
, a Member in the firm’s Montgomery accounting and advisory office, has been elected to serve as the President of the Board of Directors for the Montgomery Area Food Bank.
The Montgomery Area Food Bank’s mission is to acquire and distribute food to those experiencing hunger and food insecurity throughout Alabama. Since 1986, it has distributed food and other necessities to over 800 partner agencies in 35 of Alabama’s 67 counties. Each year, the Montgomery Area Food Bank provides more than 20 million pounds of food that feeds over 300,000 people.
“23% of Alabamians are food insecure, which is the fourth highest rate in the country,” said Barranco. “The Montgomery Area Food Bank works hard to fill this void by delivering fresh, nutritious food to those in need. Although the name implies that it is just Montgomery’s food bank, the coverage area actually includes 35 counties throughout central Alabama. I have always admired the Montgomery Area Food Bank’s hard work and dedication in helping those in great need. I’m glad to be a part of such an impactful organization and look forward to helping it grow and to serve more people in our state.”
