Warren Averett’s Tavares Grays, a Senior Associate in the Audit Division of our Montgomery accounting office, is participating in the 2022 Leadership Montgomery’s Torchbearers Class. The Torchbearers program is a nine-month class that equips young leaders with the necessary skills and connections that can propel them into the next stage of community leadership and professional success.
Leadership Montgomery established Torchbearers in 2008 as a response to Montgomery’s need to attract and retain an educated population of young professionals. During the program, participants develop their teamwork, leadership and critical thinking skills while being exposed to critical community issues to enhance their understanding of both themselves and Montgomery.
The 2022 Leadership Montgomery Torchbearers Class started at the beginning of March and participants will graduate in November.
“I’m so proud of Tavares, who is such a valuable part of our team in Montgomery. I know he will enjoy this experience and the relationships he’ll gain from participation in Torchbearers,” said Sandy Coaker, CPA, Office Managing Member in Montgomery. “We appreciate all of the programs that Leadership Montgomery provides for our professionals and the impact that these programs have in furthering individual and business engagement in our community.”
Tavares Grays graduated from Alabama State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy. His primary responsibilities include assisting with audit fieldwork and preparing financial statements to ensure that the firm’s clients are receiving the best service.
“I can’t wait to see where the Leadership Montgomery’s Torchbearers Class takes me,” said Grays. “I know the next nine months will help me better my skills and learn more about my community so that I can provide the best service to my clients and the local Montgomery community.”
