Jess Brawner Receives the Birmingham Business Journal’s 2026 HR Impact Award
Jess Brawner, Warren Averett’s Director of People Operations in the firm’s Birmingham accounting and advisory office, was recently recognized as one of 12 honorees for the Birmingham Business Journal’s (BBJ) 2026 HR Impact Awards.
The HR Impact Awards recognize HR professionals who are making a meaningful impact through leadership, innovation and workplace culture.
Honorees were celebrated during the BBJ’s annual Best Places to Work event on July 23, 2026, at Haven. The event brought together leaders from across the Birmingham business community to recognize organizations and HR professionals who are helping create exceptional workplace cultures. Attendees enjoyed networking, games, food and the awards presentation, while finalist companies participated in the event’s “Championship Experience” theme and Team Spirit Showdown.

As Director of People Operations, Jess leads firmwide people strategy initiatives that support approximately 750 employees across 13 offices. Her responsibilities include talent development, compensation planning, employee engagement, leadership development programs and mergers and acquisitions onboarding. She works closely with firm leadership to strengthen culture, support employee growth and ensure a positive employee experience across the organization.
Known for her collaborative leadership style and commitment to developing others, Jess plays an important role in shaping the employee experience at Warren Averett. Her work continues to help attract, retain and develop talented professionals while fostering a culture where employees can thrive.
