Warren Averett, LLC is pleased to partner with the Montgomery Biscuits for another season in support of the Montgomery Area Food Bank.
During every Tuesday night Montgomery Biscuits home game, the Food Bank sets up a table at the gate to raise awareness of the organization and to collect donations. Spectators receive a free hot dog with any monetary or canned food donation.
“The kindness and generosity of Warren Averett and Biscuits Baseball has provided both tangible and intangible benefits,” said Al Bloom, Communications Officer for Montgomery Area Food Bank. “The fact that fans literally put food on the tables of our neighbors in need, while we’re raising awareness of a very real issue, speaks volumes to the Biscuits’ understanding of our mission. During Hunger Action Month we asked people to take a minute and fill out empty paper plates stating what they couldn’t do on an empty stomach. An earnest little leaguer, took about two seconds and said, ‘I couldn’t pitch!’ It was like a 100 mile an hour fastball right over the heart of the plate. You may not have seen it coming, but when you heard it you knew it was a strike!”
The Montgomery Area Food Bank is part of the Feeding America national network of food banks. They provide services to almost 390,000 people in 35 counties in Alabama, through their network of Partner Agencies. Partner Agencies are churches and 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations that have on-site pantries or feeding programs, deliver Meals on Wheels, offer backpacks to children in need and run halfway homes or shelters.
“We hope through this partnership the Food Bank benefits by not only increasing donations but also awareness so they can thrive. Warren Averett is committed to supporting nonprofit organizations which play an integral role in a strong community,” says Lee Parks, a Member in Warren Averett’s Montgomery Audit Division.
“The Montgomery Biscuits could not be more proud to partner for a second year with the Montgomery Area Food Bank and Warren Averett,” said Biscuits Chief Operating Officer, Brendon Porter. “The Biscuits are always looking for ways to offer support to organizations that are providing vital services to our community, and the food bank exemplifies that role. Anytime we can team up with one of our corporate partners to benefit the community, it becomes extra special. Big thanks to Warren Averett for its continued commitment to making the River Region the best it can be.”
Every donation makes a difference. Join us for the next Biscuits Tuesday night home game on June 25 at 6:35 pm against Jacksonville.
