Angela Akerman Earns Certified Internal Auditor Designation From The Institute of Internal Auditors

, a Principal in Warren Averett’s Risk Advisory & Assurance Services Group of our Birmingham accounting and advisory office, has recently been designated as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) by The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
Established in 1941, the IIA is an international professional association for internal audit professionals. They are a leader in standards, certification, education, research and technical guidance. Members enjoy a robust networking system, world-class training opportunities, certification programs, executive development and career opportunities.
The CIA designation is the only globally recognized internal audit certification. Certified Internal Auditors possess current knowledge of internal auditing frameworks, perform audit engagements in conformance with regulatory standards and apply the business, IT and management acumen needed for internal auditing.

Akerman joined Warren Averett in 2013. Before joining the firm, she had four years of public accounting experience and over 20 years of experience in administrative and accounting roles. She has extensive consulting experience in internal controls and information technology-related projects. Akerman is one of the firm’s subject matter experts in System and Organization Controls (SOC) examinations. She is also a published author and speaker on SOCs and vendor management.
