Jeri Groce Featured in the Montgomery Business Journal

Written on September 12, 2022

Warren Averett’s Jeri Groce, CPA, of the firm’s Montgomery accounting and advisory office, was featured in the September issue of the Montgomery Business Journal.

The Montgomery Business Journal features insights from community leaders about relevant business topics. In her article, Groce discussed Single Audits, how they can be complex or overwhelming and five tips to help organizations ensure that their Single Audit goes as smoothly as possible.

Single Audits can be complicated because organizations must take multiple layers of requirements into consideration. In the article, Groce explains, “Often there is confusion when federal funds flow down from a federal agency to a local government or other organization…if you pass a portion of your funding to another organization, you are [still] responsible for compliance and do not get to ‘pass through’ those requirements.”

Throughout the piece, Groce emphasized that it is important for organizations to be proactive in the assessment of their controls, their funding requirements and maintaining track of their documentation to help avoid findings or missed deadlines.

Jeri Groce is a Senior Manager in the firm’s Audit Division, and she is a part of the firm’s Public Sector Industry Group.
