Reed King Presents on Tax Strategies for the Alabama Society of CPAs

Warren Averett - Reed KingReed King, CPA, a Member in the Tax Division in our Birmingham accounting and advisory office, recently presented on aircraft tax strategies during the Alabama Society of CPAs’ (ASCPA) 2025 Alabama Federal and State Tax Institute.

The ASCPA is the professional organization representing Alabama’s CPAs, dedicated to supporting its members, upholding professional standards and advocating for the accounting profession. The Alabama Federal and State Tax Institute is an annual conference designed to keep industry professionals informed about the latest developments in federal and state tax regulations.

On November 13, 2025, Reed King and Jay Maples of Dentons Sirote delivered a joint presentation on aircraft tax strategies. Their session explored key topics, including FAA compliance, ownership structures and federal and state tax planning, with an emphasis on statutory requirements, common pitfalls and practical approaches for minimizing tax liabilities and managing multi-state operations.

“It was a privilege to present at the Alabama Federal and State Tax Institute,” said Reed. “My goal was to equip participants with tools to structure aircraft ownership and operations that are both practical and principled, while positioning them to plan confidently for the future. I hope attendees came away with actionable advice that they can use.”

With more than 20 years of public accounting experience, Reed specializes in pass-through entity taxation, entity structuring, federal and state tax planning, compliance and high-net-worth income taxation. He works with clients in the real estate, retail and aviation industries. Reed resides in Bluff Park and enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters.
